CLEP Structure

Cumbria LEP is committed to a culture of openness and transparency. It follows Government's good practice guidelines in relation to how it operates.

We are keen to work with a wide range of partners to help us deliver our Vision of Cumbria as "the place to live, work, visit and invest sustainably - where exceptional industry and innovation meets a breathtakingly beautiful and productive landscape".

CLEP implements a governance structure that aims to be inclusive, action-focused, aligned to Cumbria's strategic priorities and operating to the highest standards of accountability and propriety. An important part of the accountability is the scrutiny arrangements, with these being updated following Local Government Re-Organisation with CLEP reporting to both the Cumberland Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Westmorland and Furness Corporate and Overview Scrutiny Committee.

The structure has five Strategy Groups, which focus on the cross-cutting issues that are necessary to enable or address the barriers to growth. These are:

These Strategy Groups in essence are the 'supply side' addressing the issues and opportunities identified by the Sector Panels, which are the 'demand side' of the structure.

The Sector Panels reflect both CLEP's priority sectors and those sectors for which growth is a strategic priority. The Panels are action-focused and from inception have worked to develop plans that identify opportunities for the sector whilst addressing key challenges.

CLEP also retains an Investment Panel responsible for overseeing and developing the pipeline of investment opportunities and the Kingmoor Park Strategic Partners Group to ensure that the legacy of Enterprise Zone (EZ) status are maximised.

If you would like to find out more about how CLEP operates, or explore how you might help us with our work, please contact us.

Opportunities to apply for positions on our strategy groups and sector panels will be advertised on the CLEP news page as and when they become available.
