Cumbria LEP publishes annual report

Cumbria LEP has published its annual report for 2017-18.

The comprehensive 48 page document features a wide range of project updates and developments across the county’s geographical areas and key industry sectors, showing how the LEP and its partners are working together and investing in economic growth.

The annual report reflects the themes which are being embedded in the new Local Industrial Strategy for Cumbria – People, Infrastructure, Business Environment, Innovation, and Place – and how well the county is contributing to these and how it intends to take this forward in the future.

The report also includes an economic assessment of the county and information on the ongoing development of the Local Industry Strategy, as well as providing a spotlight on sectors where Cumbria has key economic strengths: the Energy and Nuclear sector, the Rural and Visitor economy, and its strong manufacturing base and supply chain.

Cumbria LEP chief executive Jo Lappin says: “Cumbria has an excellent economic offer and some huge opportunities, many examples of which are covered in our latest annual report. We also give recognition to the economic challenges the county faces.

“Cumbria LEP is committed to working with partners to make sure that we focus on those things that are most important to the county, its businesses and its people. The new Local Industrial Strategy will reflect that.”
