Job Opening: Part Time Enterprise Co-ordinator, Cumbria Careers Hub / Cumbria LEP
Introduction
Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership (CLEP) has developed ‘Restart, Reboot, Rethink – A Plan for Cumbria’s Economic Recovery’, an ambitious strategy to ensure that Cumbria recovers from the economic impacts of COVID-19. However, Restart, Reboot, Rethink is about more than just recovering it is about creating a stronger, more resilient economy, which provides opportunity for all. People are therefore at the heart of this, particularly our young people, who are critically important to our economic future. We want all of our young people to have the best career opportunities and to be equipped to secure these – that’s where our Enterprise Co-ordinators come in.
The post holder will report to the Careers Hub Manager and join a team of two other Enterprise Co- ordinators working on the careers agenda at CLEP.
Purpose
The Enterprise Co-ordinator will work for Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership and the Cumbria Careers Hub. The role will ordinarily be based at the CLEP office at Redhills, Penrith. However, for the foreseeable future the role will be home based, with the ongoing opportunity for a combination of office and home-based working, in line with business needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for growing the Cumbria Enterprise Advisor Network and supporting the development of the Careers Hub. The network is part of a national network of Enterprise Co-ordinators, co-funded by LEPs across the country and the Careers and Enterprise Company.
The postholder will work on the Enterprise Adviser Network contract, which helps schools and colleges to improve their careers and enterprise activities and to engage with the world of work, whilst also making it easier for employers to engage with schools and colleges.
The Enterprise Co-ordinator will build effective relationships with local schools to engage them in the programme and ensure that their needs are addressed; and to support volunteer Enterprise Advisers in their role working with careers leaders in schools and colleges.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Undertaking Career compass audits with schools and colleges, and supporting schools and colleges on their journey to achieving thee Gatsby Benchmarks.
- Working with local employers, the self-employed and business groups to recruit volunteer Enterprise Advisers to match with secondary schools in the required areas.
- Equipping Enterprise Advisers with the resources and contacts that they need to fulfil the role and help them to make the best use of the opportunities available.
- Promoting and sharing leading practice across the cluster of schools.
- Tracking data, evaluating performance and reporting on progress.
Person Specification
- The role requires an enthusiastic and determined person who can work independently with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Experience and knowledge of the education system and local labour market is essential.
- Strong communication, influencing and engagement skills are essential.
- The ability to work in an organised manner and coordinate projects is required along with data management and data analysis skills.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate an appreciation of what motivates young people as well as an understanding of employers of different sizes.
- A degree or level 4 professional qualification is essential, and a project management qualification would be advantageous.

Terms and Conditions
Fixed term contract to 31 August 2021, with the potential to extend, subject to funding availability. Salary circa £30k on a pro-rata basis, working 20 hours per week. 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays. Contributory pension with up to 10% employer contribution.
