Local Government Brexit Bulletin (29th October 2019)
Welcome to the Brexit Bulletin – providing an update on recent developments relevant to councils.
Formal agreement to extension
As you will have seen, the EU27 has agreed that it will accept the UK’s request for a Brexit extension until 31 January 2020. As a result, Operation Yellowhammer has been formally instructed to stand down.
It remains that if the Withdrawal Agreement is not ratified by UK and EU Parliaments then the default position would be for the UK to leave without a deal on 31 January.
Parliament is to vote on the Early Parliamentary General Election Bill later today.
