Help making businesses in Cumbria successful and resilient is at the top of our agenda. The aim is to ensure that the county’s business community has access to a co-ordinated programme across all sectors that includes a wide range of business support facilities, including national products and schemes.

Business support is playing a vital role in enabling Cumbria’s businesses to grow, create more jobs and maximise their potential. It is also designed to foster a stronger culture of business start-up in the county, as well as helping local firms to diversify, offer new products and services and grow sales and exports. The multi-layered programme of business support is underpinned by a series of key objectives:

    • Foster business growth with tailored access to finance to facilitate investment in intellectual property.
    • Ensure start-ups and SMEs can access appropriate support for entrepreneurship and innovation.
    • Promote Cumbria to encourage more investors and businesses to locate to or invest in the county.
    • Support innovation and development of technology-based products and services and their associated commercialisation.
    • Help businesses invest in activities to improve productivity and increase export growth potential.

Business Space & Premises

Matching you with facilities to support your business growth.

Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership is aiming to ensure that local businesses have access to a range of services and facilities which will support their continuing growth.

A key objective is to help increase the range and supply of high quality business locations, appropriate employment sites and suitably-sized commercial premises which will enhance the competitiveness of our local small and medium sized enterprises.

This is important for businesses which aspire to make that important jump in performance, productivity and turnover, and need to expand their premises, take on new staff and increase capacity. It is also critical to ensure that newly created and micro-businesses can access incubator and grow-on business space which matches their individual growth ambitions. Cumbria also offers an exceptional landscape where businesses from elsewhere in the UK and overseas can establish a presence. CLEP is working with some of these interested parties and investors to identify suitable locations for them to set up their business. For more information about Inward Investment click here.
