Cognisant of the skills shortages in Welding and Fabrication, this course has been developed to allow companies to develop staff in welding processes; giving them the skills and knowledge to prepare materials and equipment to complete welded joints utilising a Mig Welding process.

This course is aimed at up-skilling existing staff to develop their skills and knowledge in welding processes to complete repeat manufacturing jobs to a specified standard or complete maintenance activities. The course will also provide learners with an opportunity to develop hands on skills in welding and fabrication.

- Understand the theory of the Mig Welding Process
- Complete a range of welded joints
- Manufacture a range of welded components to drawing and specification.
- Visually inspect components to drawing and specification
- Understand a range of welding technologies available in the welding industry
Schedule
- A blend of face to face day release classes and practical supported by on line materials. Additional free courses including Abrasive Wheels, IOSH Working Safely, CCSNG Safety Passport and Save a Life.
- A personal development programme will run aside practical sessions during the 16 weeks.
Starting on Tuesday 27 September 2022 from 1-5pm thereafter for practical sessions for 16 weeks. The personal development programme will include the additional courses, self –study and interpersonal skills training.

- The application of the Mig Welding processes
- Preparing materials for Mig welding processes
- Setting up and adjusting Mig Welding equipment
- Forming a range of welded joints using Mig Welding Processes
- Manufacturing a range of components to drawing and specification
- Completing positional welded joints
- Visually inspecting welds
- Identifying defects in welds and understanding their cause
- Introduction to automation in the welding industry

Learner Costs
The training is free if you meet the following criteria:
- Aged over 19 years of age
- Working, recently unemployed within the last 12 months or looking for work e.g. coming back into the workforce after a career break
