Lakes College: Cyber Security Skills Bootcamp

Date: September 29th - January 19th

The primary objective of this 16-week Bootcamp is to promote an understanding of the core principles, knowledge, behaviours and skills involved in providing, managing and sustaining an environment that facilitates “Secure business Operations”.

This Bootcamp will also aim to focus on an awareness of the impact of Cyber Security issues on businesses and the communities in which they operate.


A blend of face to face classes and practical sessions supported by online knowledge session and resources. Commencing in September 2022 for 16 weeks. Professional development classes will also take place during evenings throughout the 16 weeks which will include face to face classes and self-study.

The course will start on Thursday 29th September from 5-9pm, and will run at this time every week after for 16 weeks.

  • Types of Attackers and Motivation for attack

  • Ethical and legal considerations of cyber security
  • Cyber Security Risk Management
  • Testing and Monitoring Measures
  • Access Controls, Malware protection
  • Responding to an Incident, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan
  • Cyber Security Incident Report
  • Legislation
  • Professional development courses

Learner Costs
The training is free if you meet the following criteria:

  • Aged over 19 years of age
  • Working, recently unemployed within the last 12 months or looking for work e.g. coming back into the workforce after a career break
  • Resident in the UK and legally entitled to work in the UK
